Posting History (29)

Hats off to Miami - they took advantage of the NIL, and have a good coach

and really good players. Those guards are amazing. I think we are all jealous of Miami having a billionaire alum that got these contracts with the players. I don't know if there are any Hokie alums like that. As for hating the NIL - I am not crazy about it, but it opens up the playing field for the other schools to pay players (through 3rd parties) out in the open without fear of NCAA sanctions, The reason the "Blue Bloods" exist most likely goes to all the "special deals" behind the scenes going back to the 1950s and 60s. I believe it was Bobby Knight that was so disgusted with UCLA and how they operated under the table - he had no respect for John Wooden.

Agree - they are losing to teams they used to easily beat. I don't think

their zone defense works like it used to. I watched Colgate shoot open shots all game against Syracuse and they won pretty easily. Throw a man-to-man defense on Colgate and results would have been different.

This site has all the history -- see link

They included a photocopy of their schedule to fill in game results below the posted games to show some games that they actually did win (Flagler, University of the South, Presbyterian, and Newberry. Love looking back at our old results for VT on this site. ** Edited by HokieMJL at 11/30/2022, 6:56:38 AM

Good post. I watched him last night and was impressed at his confidence

to shoot and look to shoot often. The team looked confident offensively, and he is a big part of it.

Spot on. Remember the VT - WVU Game a few years back in DC -- great

television. I live in NJ and had several people comment about watching and enjoying that game. I think that large stadium was close to full. The electric atmosphere showed up on television. Back in early 80s WVU was one of our best selling games, usually getting 50,000 in attendance, when otherwise 30,000 or so fans would show up for the rest of our games. Making the left onto 460 from the WV Turnpike on gameday would have the longest backup! ACC whiffed during expansion IMHO.

IMHO it is a threat to business as usual for the PGA Tour. The fact that

they want to ban players who play on LIV is incredible, seeing they welcome players from all over the world that play on other tours. It will cause the PGA some marketing problems when they can't field the strongest players at their events. I used to go to the Kemper years ago only on thursdays and fridays since all the golfers would be there before the cut. Loved to watch John Daly, and he would be a 50/50 chance to make it to Saturday. The few other top golfers that would come as well but could be cut after Friday. LIV won't cut their field after 36 holes like the PGA does. I think the competition and the unknowns scare the PGA tour people.
