Posting History (21)

At game…Halftime…it looks like what you would think…

These (VT) guys only met each other last Tuesday… Gonna take some time to gel… Feels like there is only one PG (not Neo)…Hammond. Need some spacing work…wings seem to disappear. It’s PRACTICE.

I’m not that old…

But I do remember in early 80’s (late 70’s?) they only served Dr. Pepper in Cassell as a soft drink. I remember because I didn’t like it. But that’s all they served!

VT is still under the radar…

Not listed in Bracketology for NCAA tournament. My expectations are making the tournament at a minimum. They only have 6 ACC teams making it…and we are not one of them. Are we just excited as “fans”…but not to levels of reality? BTW: I got season tickets, so I’m excited.

I thought I was watching Draft Combine scrimmage…

We entered into Giannis trade prospects. Save it for NBA Today or SportsCenter!

Beautiful Blacksburg day for an official visit!

Could not have scripted the weather any better. Hope the Tour goes great!

But he does have a “hitch” in footing…

I’m wondering if some of those early clips (in the clips montage) are borderline traveling when setting up for jump shot (from 3).

God bless Ms. King…

1/12 is like 9 turnovers…1/3 is shooting 33%…the others are causing a loss of possession. Certainly has had a rough year shooting-wise.

Are the Live Stats for real?

Brandon with 4 TOs in only 3 minutes? How? I didn’t see the game… That takes some real effort to achieve that level of results!

From the limited view Open Practice…

Kidd is showing his highest levels of confidence since he’s been here. He knows the ball needs to go to the bottom of the basket, the faster the better (ie. take it hard to the rim and dunk it). Long is still learning the system. Totally understandable. More than a couple of times there were stoppages in set piece drills to have Coach G bark and point (and have a couple of other players do the same, minus the bark) to direct Long into correct movements. What did NOT need to be taught was Long’s nose for the ball. He goes after it.

Watched Open practice (sorry, no photos/video)…

Loved seeing the energy and team culture. The coaches run a tightly formatted practice…very little down time. Highlights: - Beran has a nice touch from 3–he will fit right in immediately as a CMY 4. - Jaylon had some nice long 2, 3 pointers. - Mekhi will definitely contribute (looks like Spencer Dinwidde in NBA). - Kidd will surprise this year. Confident movements and looks to finish hard and strong when under/near basket. - Rice stood out (vs. sitting out) for most of practice after starting during drills. Perhaps today is the anniversary of his foot injury and being superstitious, sat this one out? Lol - Hunter and Sean looked solid and in mid-season form. Just need to tip off and let’s go. - Rechsteiner will definitely be a suitable step-in for Sean in spots. Definitely has the tools and shot for the future. - Poteet is a load and knows how to use his body for rebounds and putbacks. More confident in his movements. - Camden and Nickel look steady and engaged. Fed off one another and were complimentary. Nice 3 point form and were making them. - MJ looks great and steady as well. Mid-range floaters are his thing. Great energy on defensive sets—we should be fine if we stay healthy. Only question mark today was Rice. Couldn’t figure out why he was not participating. Perhaps more will come out later today.

Rodney Rice not practicing at Open Practice…

Any insight on this? He participated in early going (drills)…but for wide open scenario-based play, he was standing by the coaches and walk-ons. He didn’t look injured or ill. No bueno.
