Posting History (2,882)

It’s true on one hand

But on the other hand, teams also do what they can to provoke reactions. Louisville was pushing boundaries that day and MV2 finally had enough. Sure, people have to control their emotions. But people also react when they’ve been pushed to the edge. Louisville is scum of the earth, end of story.

I’d remember how many players Pry brought from Happy Valley

None. Was that because Franklin told Pry to go and do great things, but don’t touch my team. It’s probably part of it. (Pry should have been able to bring some linebackers?) A lot of guys on Penn states roster went to Penn State to play for Franklin. But Penn state is one of the top programs in the history of college football. We don’t like it where we sit. But history says once in, guys don’t walk away from being a Nittany Lions. For Franklin to draw players from Penn state to Virginia Tech, he’d have to be able to offer NIL money.

And when recruit says, “you think you’ll be better?”

The correct recruiting response is, “you wanna get paid?” 😉

Personally, I’m wary, but some will say it worked for Cignetti

Neither Virginia tech of James Madison throw the ball very well and the QBs are seniors. JMU is currently 7th in the country in rushing compared to VT at 40th. The Dukes starting RB and guards and tackles are underclassmen so maybe. But the Hokies RBs are higher rated players. On defense Chesney runs a 4-2-5. A lot of the key spots are filled by seniors. But if the new coach switches the defensive scheme, some players knowing the system would help. Overall VT football players are better than JMU ones. But if Chesney ends up being the new coach, it would be safe to expect some of his underclassmen would transfer with him.

I’m assuming Florida has already said

We have recruits, national championships, girls, sun, beaches, and we’ll pay 12.5 million a year and provide 50 million for NIL. We can’t outbid Florida.

To there credit, the students did fill the student section

The pretty lady in the black dress and sun glasses in the front row was a camera favorite. I’d imagine she’s back to her normal sorority party schedule to rest of the season.

The committee allegedly signed NDA’s

So any names would either be pure rumor or smokescreen. For the boards sanity, we should root for Shane to beat one of his top 8 SEC opponents this month.

Chesney is a great coach

But we should all understand being an P4 head coach is a complex job, coaching football, managing a staff, recruiting, fundraising. Chesney will have future options. But Virginia Tech needs a P2 coach with proven success at this level. There are to many requirements to the job that Chesney has never had to deal with

WADR, Elliott understands the game

And knows that wasn’t a Gatorade bath moment. The Hoos were 17.5 point favorites and the game was tied 20-20 with 3 minutes left and Washington State getting the ball The cougars made perhaps the worst kickoff return ever, with one return man signaling fair catch, with the other return man catching the ball on the one yard line The Virginia defense did hold them there and produce a safety. But that victory was given to UVa based on boneheaded plays on Washington states part Elliott knew that and one have been fine sneaking out with a win. ** Edited by Hokie1992 at 10/19/2025, 7:58:20 AM

Chesney is a fine football coach

But he has zero experience as a P5 head coach. No way he’s ready for this job

You’d have to order the right beer or whiskey

Because I guarantee there are wrong choices in that bar. I’m guessing you want to go union. So jack Daniel’s and Michelob Ultra

You’re trivia answer …

Not Michael Jackson or Madonna. ** Edited by Hokie1992 at 10/14/2025, 7:49:12 AM

All that matters is putting enough money into it

Cignetti is certainly a good coach. But he was able to get the assistants he wanted and keep them, on top of the NIL to recruit and keep talent.

All eyes now on the Yankees pitching a rookie named Cam Schlittler

From Walpole, Mass, while the Red Sox call on rookie Connelly Early, from Midlothian VA, who pitched for Army and UVa. Can’t imagine it’s easy growing up named Schlittler. You better have a good fastball.

I think that call was right

It was a legitimate football hit. . The defenders ended up hitting with the crown of the helmet. But he didn’t lead with the helmet. That said, intent isn’t always clear. But that was and should be a legit tackle, not targeting

Pry signed a six-year 27.5 million dollar contact while cignetti

Signed an eight-year 72 million dollar contract with the Hoosiers. So for VT now, if we want a coach like Cignetti, is virginia Tech prepared to commit 80 to 120 million dollars for an eight year deal?

No doubt. Virginia Tech stepped out of character firing Pry after three

games. Here we are. Now, shoot for the fences. The goals remain to be a power program and win championship games. That means go big. I don't necessarily think hiring a pro coach is the answer. But we have to hire a big name that top recruits want to play for.

If someone is going to portal, now is the time

Teams are beginning conference games next week. Teams might be interested in a player that portals three weeks from now. But I'd imagine the Hokies want the people jumping ship to do so now, and teams shopping the portal will want additions sooner rather then later.

I think the term must-win games is generally over-rated

But Old Dominion is a clear must win game for Pry. The Hokies can recover this start and finish 7-5. But that starts by beating the monarchs

No way that is accurate

But apparently so. That is the orange/orange combo. Id imagine the winning percentage drops as more orange options are included ** Edited by Hokie1992 at 9/4/2025, 6:42:53 AM

It’s not a tough schedule.

But there are a lot of pothole games that could leave the Heels fighting to finish 6-6. The UVa game might be tough. I’m guessing wake, Duke and NC state are all thinking, hmmm?🤔

Yeah, I don’t think you can tie yourself down to survive a plane crashing

Into a swamp. But I get it as a bloody entertaining fictional account of how the resourceful men and women of Finland endured great hardship at the hands of the nazis and exacted equally vicious retribution as they fought for their survival.

More like “dad woulda lost this game too”

Brent’s dad is a pretty good football coach too. ** Edited by Hokie1992 at 9/1/2025, 8:45:14 AM

Sure. I just watched Sisu on Netflix

They can probably make lakes look like their country. Rotten Tomatoes says John Wick against the Nazi’s. ** Edited by Hokie1992 at 9/1/2025, 5:27:30 AM

KD’s post game comments were on the mark

Not faster and defense is defense. Next week KD has to throw more catchable balls, and when KD puts the ball in receivers hands, they need to finish the catch. To many dropped balls by the wr’s. We need some TE’s too.

That is true across college football

Half of Virginia Tech’s two-deep roster is new from the portal. Nine of the 11 second string defenders are from the portal. Tech’s numbers are on par with other programs. But if makes it tough for fans looking their schools roster. We already saw the chaos for men’s basketball. It’s chaos to for high school recruiting and freshmen and sophomore player development.
