I agree that it wouldn't be a good hire for VT for a number of reasons, but not sure it would be a worse hire than Pry as a HC.

Franklin brings instant "big boy club" vibes. Chesney (my 2nd choice) might get us there, but it will be a minimum of a year before that perception starts to form. We probably have 3 years to position ourselves in the realignment world and really need to start now. Chesney might turn out to have a higher ceiling 2-3 years from now, but that may be too late. The risk of him failing to make us relevant is much higher than Franklin. That's a risk we need to try and minimize right now.

He leaned on the running backs and the QB run. Sprinkled in some non-1st down passes and we were moving the ball. Mistakes, and a defense that couldn't get off the field, got us into a hole that necessitated a passing game that we aren't equipped to run effectively. Monty tried to avoid that scenario, but didn't have a choice.
