Thinking about the NIL money for softball, I just had a thought.
What if there was a date of a VT football game scheduled for about 3pm and the softball park had an event that morning 11-1. Paid admission ( $5.00 ? ) , items for sale such as pre-signed softballs and pre-signed posters of the team, as well as a chance to buy a softball or poster with a particular signature of a favorite player or two. Maybe have a process to get photographs with players. It wouldn't raise thousands of dollars but I think it would raise a tidy sum. If it starts an annual tradition then even better. Maybe it gets larger donors more excited about dedicated donations earmarked for softball. People already in the area for Hokie Village could wander over for some fan time at the softball park.

Hokies players who bail on the Hokies don't ( and shouldn't ) get
a day at Cassell. I would have a week for Kitley and even a day for Wenzel and King. Kitley was a selfless super star, Wenzel stayed and kept a core group of players together when KB left, and King was always the unsung hero who played and worked her a$$ off. GA ditched the Hokies to follow her mentor. I enjoyed watching her play for VT. However, she turned her back on the Hokies ( which is her choice ) but that cuts ties with VT and ends any future recognition in Cassell.

Same. FSU is a good team and we only lost by 1 so I feel good about a run
in the regionals. I just hope we get a location not too far away.

My 3 claims to VT fame. I saw Bear Bryant walk by as I sat in the
overflow north end zone stands in Lane Stadium. I had a Charlie Coffee cap ( up until a few years ago when it disappeared ). I still have my Hokie Central car magnet. Also honorable mention memory is first time I drove in for a game and saw someone selling tickets at a pull over as we came off 460 by-pass. Our tickets had never been in demand enough to attract scalpers.

I wish TSL would do an article explaining the Big Ten, SEC wanting congress
to reject the proposal to consolidate FBS broadcasting rights. Good article on CBS Sports but seems complicated. Would be nice to read another interpretation of what the SEC and Big 10 are against. Almost seems if they are against it then it is likely good for all the other conferences.

Great Article. I wish I had known about the women's basketball when I was
there in the 70s. I graduated and coached girls basketball in middle school. It was great to see the girls and how much effort they put into being a team. I am sure it was even better at the college level. Culpeper, Thanks for binging back good memories for me. Seagull.

VA Tech Achilles heel is funding. Not just from the university but from
alumni. It would be interesting to see how many that are calling for firing Pry and Babcock donate to the athletic fund. If all those who want to pay Pry 6 million to go away and goodness knows how much to Whitt were at Bronze level giving to VT maybe we could afford it. Everyone has a right to express their opinion but it means more coming from those with skin in the game.
If our alumni base were like Clemson with IPTAY , imagine almost every alumni giving $50.00 a year. What could we afford to do?

Question about seating in Lane on West side
I have had seats for many years at the top of Lane Stadium in sect 115. At the last game I had the opportunity to sit in a friends seats in same section down 4 rows above portal. The amount of leg room is less at the lower seats. Where does the leg room spacing change ( what row ) ? I would like to move down but the difference in leg room is very noticeable and even more so with the seat backs they installed last year. TIA

Thinking about the Sugar Bowl getting moved a day
I can't imagine the chaos that this created. Think of the fans that planned to fly out today after watching the game yesterday. Now their hotel reservations have to be extended ( if possible ) and airline tickets had to be rescheduled ( if possible ) and additional days off from work due to coming home a day later. What a mess for a lot of fans.

Best item I added this year for parking was
a handicapped placard holder that is see thru and hooks easily on the rear view mirror. This holds my parking pass for each game. For $5.00 I got 2 of these.

How to get a pic on the Jumbotron?
I have heard that there is an email address to contact about submitting a picture for the Jumbotron. I also heard that there is a fee to get one with a message like Happy Birthday. Anyone know how to contact the folks doing this?

I attend the VT bowl games so the better our record the better the bowl we
go to. I will admit that with our record last year it did make it easy to just go up to Annapolis but I would of course want to do better. The Gasparilla Bowl against a team we are competitive with sounds nice for a chilly late December destination.

Things I miss in Lane Stadium now.............did I miss anything?
The drink vendors that came up into the stadium.
Cowbells and turkey callers.
Horse trough in the men's room.
On important downs when the Lane crowd would roar WITHOUT the noise from the jumbotron.

ESPN with Directv blackout
I have Directv Stream and am a victim of the ESPN spat with Directv. No ESPN for now !!!!! I have been trying to get a monthly subscription of ESPN and am willing to pay the monthly fee but every time I try to purchase it , ESPN says I am a Directv customer and it is blacked out. On their app they don't seem to have the ability to let me buy a stand alone subscription. I have tried on Roku and it does the same thing.
Has anyone found a way around this?

Cowbells at VT games
I saw that at the soccer game on ( I think 8/27) that they were giving out small VT cowbells. I wish they would give these out at football games or at least allow fans to bring their own. Cowbells, gobbler callers, big plastic horns and chants of "stick it in, stick it in , stick it in" should all be back in Lane Stadium. My.02 worth.
