What team in team in the Big 12 has a worse football history than WF? Unless you just mean that WF has been playing since the 19th century [definitely teams with shorter football histories].

Not sure that TT and BYU are even the biggest brands in the updated Big 12. WVU, Arizona, Utah, UCF, Colorado, Houston... What will be the issues for the ACC going forward are two factors. 1. Teams that have appeal to the big 2: UNC and Miami (and ND) -> results in perpetual instability; I think the Big 12 has already been "picked dry" by the big 2. 2. Teams that bring little to no value: BC, WF. Even the lowest teams in the Big 12 (maybe Iowa State or K-State?) have a decent loyal fan base and play ok.

VT, Pitt, Lville, and NCSU are not relevant since the are the block being discussed (and as mentioned they are presumed to equal themselves in either group) and Miami is also not relevant they had left in the original premise. That leaves only UNC and GT from your list and in FOOTBALL ONLY: WVU > UNC [anyone who says otherwise has not been to a football game at both places...] I would take Cincy or UCF over GT in football these days, but I do not think any add a ton of value at this time. Obviously, if non-football factors are considered UNC and GT are better academic institutions and UNC clearly brings more in terms of Basketball and Olympic sports... but football only this is my take.

If ND counts... probably. Otherwise, out of curiosity, which three teams in the remnant ACC do you believe add better "football" value than WVU, Cincy and UCF? Then with WVU, Cincy, and UCF there would be a stronger football eastern block in the B12 than the remnants of the ACC without FSU and Clemson (especially because Miami is likely gone as well).

The Big East started as a basketball conference... and returned to a basketball conference.

Probably more prestigious academically, but in terms of sports fans they are like Cincinnati; their fan dominance ends at the end of their campus. Even in suburbs of Pittsburgh, PSU is dominant. I do not even remember seeing GT stuff even in Atlanta - I think UGA owns the state so completely...

I assume the ACC will lose their tie ins if the MAG 7 + goes away -> probably B1G and SEC both claim one of the new tie ins.

Football requires about 45+ elite players to be a potential title contender. Basketball requires 8-9 elite players to win a title. Plus, they have been the best team for the past 25 years and have done really well with their coaching hire.

USC/UCLA was the kill shot that freed up money that would have gone to the P12 for the B1G. FSU and Clemson would be that kill shot for the ACC; it likely allows the B1G to partner again with ESPN as they will have a new list of highly valuable games sell and ESPN will likely screw the ACC over again. ** Edited by GALOISGROUP at 4/1/2024, 1:35:34 PM

My understanding was that OU and UW receive half rights until 2031 when they become full members (https://saturdayoutwest.com/pac-12/oregon-washington-to-t... FSU and Clemson would likely have more value than OU and UW. More football history and significantly larger populations (22.2 + 5.3 million) vs (7.8 + 4.2 million)... Even with Clemson and FSU not being the dominant school in the state, the larger populations, likely higher football fervor in their respective states, and generally higher play likely makes them more valuable to TV execs. We will find out.
