Ninninger
He teched his first opponent pretty quick. He had Bassett in the next round, lost 14-4. Had two really solid takedowns in the first and looked really solid, Bassett is just that so good.

Three techs in round 1 of the US open
Cambell, Crook, and Andonian all go through without allowing a point. All matches ended in the first round.

Assuming this is true, does he take a spot or move some people up?
157: Miller / Hip
165: Miller / Hip
174: Church (absolutely ridiculous given he made 141 his redshirt year)
184: Wright (burton RS)
IDK if miller is bigger than Hip is, hip had some good wins at 165 his redshirt year, but i think his style suits smaller weights.

Opening line of the dual is -7.5 NCSt
Since it has already moved down to 6.5, still seems wildly high.

We use a seeding matrix, that's mostly set in stone
officially its:
25% head to head
20% Quality Wins
15% Coaches
10% Results agains common opponents
10% RPI
10% Event Placement, ie conference
10% win %
The biggest however thing is to allocate for the weight for the ACC. To do that you need 2/3: RPI (15 matches), coaches poll rankings (8 matches), or .7 win percentage (I believe their is a matches minimum of 8 but I'm not 100 percent sure). These are also minimums and if to many wrestlers qualify they up the standards.
With the new coaches and RPI we auto qualify 9 weights for ACC, the only one that hasn't is Andy...

Little disappointing, thought he could go on a run today
Would also have been good to see him in a two day tournement

Tom Crook at 141
Really shocked to see this. Last year, during his redshirt, he wrestled 149. Would have assumed he bumped up again, making the move to 157 for his redshirt junior year.

Points of vunrability
3 at 141 is obviously brutal
2 at 165 is a tough draw with brady, fields, and heller, seed really matters here
2 at 285 is going to be hard with pitzer comes back
Everywhere else I feel very confident in winning the auto bid.

Coaches Poll 2 and first RPI
Coaches RPI
Flynn 5 N/A
Latona 11 7
Crook 13 N/A
Henson 2 1
Andonian N/A 5
Brady 21 17
Lewis 2 N/A
Howard 31 N/A
Smith 25 13
Catka 17 14
While their are definitely guys that will fill out the RPI, our RPI is really high. For example Henson is 1 with Lovett at 3, Arrington is all the way down at 9. Love our tough scheduling model.

TJ Stewart bid allocation question
to earn an bit for the conference you need 3 things:
1. 70% win percentage
2. Ranked in the coaches poll ( 8 game min )
3. Top 33 RPI (15 gam min )
As it stands currently TJ would have to win out to earn the auto bid, win percentage and would be ranked coaches poll. While I believe he will do it, I feel like he should enter some small open tournament to get the win percentage, in case of a loss. I don't know how these things work, is that an option at this point in the season? Can we wait till after the NC State dual?

Cooper Flynn with a ranked match too

Andonian back for acc championships
flo quote from Coach Robie:
βIt looked bad,β he said. βWe were concerned. He's gonna have to take some time away and recover and heal, but he will be back before the ACC Championships. So that's something we're grateful for.β

By definition Bryce can't get the medical redshirt
The rule is less than 30 percent of dates or total 3 dates, whichever is higher. By best measure, Bryce is already at 42%. That being said the NCAA has been known to bend those rules.
I'd much rather him just be alright, but theirs always a small chance BA can get the medical.

hokiesports posted the expected lineups. What you would expect, only interesting part is church or crook, fisher or JYD, then 174 is TBD for mizz. Really hoping we see crook and JYD!

Quote indicates that Hipolito is a 157
I'm assuming that's just because that's what he's listed on the roster. The guys that are moving weights, TJ and Crook, have direct say from Robie. Not saying he's wrestling at 165, just that this isn't indicating that he isn't.
