Akron pitcher threw 135 pitches earlier against USA, and has thrown
65 so far in this game. Not sure we have a pitcher with that stamina.

Are you serious? Really mediocre play all weekend. Coach isn't playing
on the field. This team just isn't playing well. Period. I don't really know why, but they look BAD. Really bad tonight.

VT pitching combined strike/total pitches = 64/139 = 46%. 9 BBs. 8 hits.
LSU pitching strikes/total pitches 50/73 equating to 68.5% strikes. Only one BB, VT with 2 hits. Lots of pitches that would have been called balls were swung at.
Whoever VT plays tonight will send batters to the plate and "take" until VT pitcher(s) throw strikes consistently or at least close to strikes consistently.
Love my Hokie sofrball team but this was a BAD game against LSU both offensively in their approach at the plate, and pitching overall.
They are way better than what they showed against LSU today. Let's see if their mindset changes and execution improves. Go Hokies! Beat USA/Akron winner tonight.

Well kudos to LSU, they kicked our butt. How does team respond?
South Alabama will likely be the opponent tonight, and they essentially gave VT 4 runs yesterday because of an error. Hope this LSU humiliation sticks in their collective minds, and they sit down and realize what they need to do to come oit on top and then actually execute. If not, they will be coming back home disappointed.

So frustrating to watch VT hitter after hitter swing at balls clearly out
of the strike zone. LSU pitcher with NO WALKS through 5 innings. VT hitters making her look GREAT.

I'm beginning to wonder if the offensive scout on Mazz isn't simply
stand there until she throws a stike. Mazz just consistently misses way too far away from the zone. What frustrates me the most is she will get up in the count 1-2 or 2-2, and then lose the batter to a walk.

Ladies not showing a lot at the plate so far. What's up? Pitcher doesn't
appear that good. Several slow walks back to dugout after strike outs in the 2nd. Where's that fire and enthusiasm?

Rohs glove is elite. Her hitting has improved enormously this year.
She is an all-around shortstop and team leader. Given her offensive improvement this year, I look for her to have an all ACC year next season. Go Hokies!

Feel confident both have improved and will continue to develop.
How much? TBD. I think tall athletic female players in high school tend to have their way on the court without having to work hard. Getting to and playing Division 1 is a big adjustment. I'm confident coaches will have them ready to contribute more and at a higher level. This is just one of the reasons I think redshirting is beneficial for most players coming out of high school. I'm jealous (that you are in a troit stream and I'm not). However,
if you have time to read TSL softball message board while trout fishing, I'm guessing the action is S L O W. So that's my consolation. Catch a nice one or two for me.

FSU not any better than VT. They were more disciplined at the plate,
especially against Mazz. Had we been more disciplined, we would have either had more walks, or more hits, or perhaps both. The only reason FSU got the go-ahead run was a passed ball. Our #3 freshman pitcher shut them down! (She is going to be special, isn't she). Coaching staff can coach these players up, and get them ready for regionals. They saw great pitching all weekend, and this should help them prep for regionals.
I'm proud of this team and what they have accomplished this season, and its not over. Stay together, work together and get excited that the season isn't over. Go Hokies! Take care of business in the regionals.

Really need to lay off pitches out of the zone and make her work. So far letting her off too easy, especially innings 2-4.

Not sure the first batter didn't strike out, as ump called at least one
strike a ball. BUT NO excuse for not handling a perfectly catchable pitch behind the plate.

So, so happy for team and coaches. I could tell Bree disn't want to leave

She is so smooth fielding the ball, got a hit today too. Impressive
when your 9-hole hitter is batting .300 or better. She is a great Hokie.

Small world. One of my sons played at Calfee Park in High School.
I live in Washington County near Abingdon. Went to school at Tech and I have a son who works at the University and lives there now. 2nd son in Va. Beach but wants to get back to the area. Its not like I live a long way from Blacksburg, but it is far enough to be really inconvenient, especially after a night game.

Stopped at Longway in Radford on way home from spring game. Nice vibe.
Only reason we've not moved yet is Blacksburg market is CRAZY compared to far SW VA. Sticker shock for us. I'll take a look at Radford-Pulaski area and see what's available. Know anything about Giles Co.?
