Not a terrible opening round. All went as expected except Sasso, which was
disappointing. He he had looked so good toward the end of the season and the ACCT, but that match was a microcosm of Sonny's season. Up and down.
Miller and Bullock gutted out some tough wins. Church was close but just couldn't pull it off. Getting 2 of of those 3 matches is a good day.
None of us like to see the late takedowns when we are going for bonus but glad EV and Jimmy got the dubs and we move on.
Really need to keep at least 3 alive on the championship side to feel good about our chance to keep the 3 AA streak alive. Sasso's loss hurts those chances considerably.
Miller vs Shapiro
Bullock vs McEnelly
Mullen vs Bautista
Those are going to be tough to win.

Sasso looked great for a few minutes, and then he looked bad. Gas tank? I wonder if he was dazed or something.

Blow get him stunned? He was on fire in the first period.

Had Church and Sasso won, it would have been a good round. Mullen MD would have been icing. But alas, did not quite close these out. Except for the mental lapse, I thought Church and Desiante wrestled a good match against #8 seeds.
The silver lining is all can still exceed their seeding - although Sasso will need to find his inner Epp. Looking forward to a better evening.

I was thinking that and then saw you mention it. I have faith in Sasso. He showed a lot down the stretch of the season. And now he needs to suck it up and go to work from the bottom bracket ... just like Zach Epperly did so famously 10 years ago.
