Now that we have to say goodbye to these two Hokie legends, I thought it would be fun to reminisce about favorite memories for each. Here are my top 5 - welcome other top memories from others Mekhi (1) Beating Joseph for the title (duh) and locking up that cradle. (2) Upsetting #1 seed Marinelli in quarters and breaking heart of Iowa fans. (3) Sticking Massa to make his second finals. (4) Beating Hidlay at ACCs with sweet misdirect shot to avenge regular season loss. (5) Beating Wick to make his first finals. Bryce (1) His two crazy throw battle wins against Gomez (I’m counting as one continuous 14 minute match since happened at same NCAAs). As an aside, after last night I bet Gomez is happy to never have to wrestle another Hokie. (2) Breaking his three match loss streak to Scott Friday night to clinch his third all-American honor. (3) Coming back from injury to dominate Scott at NC State dual. (4) Wild win against Saldate in blood round to clinch second all-American honor. (5) Putting 2 NCAA champs on their backs. Only Bryce is so fun that losses can still end up being fun memories. Who else can say they put both O’Connor and Haines on their backs (and pinned one of them in the eyes of everyone e but the refs)?
