Sasso has a win (MD) over Novak and he will get two cracks at Stout (Pittsburgh) and will likely get a win over Posada (Stanford). If he wins those matches he will be a top 10 seed in the NCAAT. I guess the calculus is that it is better for Sasso not to give Little an early scout of Sasso’s unique style of wrestling and then have it bite him in the tourney.
Henson maybe to some extent won the NCAAs because he wrestled Lovett at CKLV earlier that year. It clearly was a disbenefit to Lovett for Henson to get that early read on him.
