Here's a scenario

He's new to PA and has been involved in a variety of activities setting up his new life. After having just helped my 24 year old daughter with this type of thing, there are a lot of things kids this age just don't know about ... or know how to be efficient in setting things up. Utility hook ups, internet, car registration, car inspection, apartment leases, acquiring new license, applying for CCW permit in a new state ... heck, even filling out a W-4 form for a new job and setting up direct deposit is unknown to a lot of people this age. Throw in the added issue of anxiety issues and pain management and I can easily see some things not being taken care of in a timely manner. Doesn't excuse the carelessness of not jumping through all of the hoops correctly, especially when guns are concerned, but certainly his situation doesn't necessarily sound all that reckless to me. And clearly he isn't opposed to doing what is necessary to register his guns as he's already done that once in Ohio. Maybe he was coming from a gun range. Maybe he was simply transporting them from a temporary address to his new address. Maybe he got bad information about how much time he had to get certain things done. Who knows? But 3 legally owned guns in the trunk of his car doesn't sound reckless as they aren't even remotely accessible while driving. They are in a backpack locked in the trunk. I'm not a gun nut and I don't own a gun (and likely never will), but they seem pretty secure to me in that situation. Just my thoughts. ** Edited by HokieToph at 7/29/2025, 11:42:53 AM

He had a legal CCW in Ohio but was no longer a resident since moving to PA.

He had *four* firearms and the THC all in an unregistered vehicle

Wouldn't think so. I think that's just based on volume.

Are the 3 firearms in the backpack even a crime in this case?

From what I've seen medical weed isn't legal in his hometown and that part
