Yes, travel/expenses are not covered for unattached, and I don't think....
The status can be changed retroactively. So if a kid competes unattached now, you can't go back in the future and make it attached (and make it "count").
But yeah, any travel and entry fees can not be covered by the team. Can't use any gear provided by the school. The RTC *MAY* (speculating here) be able to cover it...I'm guessing this is probably the case.
