What is particularly annoying is that whenever there is a disappointing result, there are certain posters who appear like clockwork to complain and a flood of new posters who come over to join in the complaining. But when there are good results (and there are a lot of them with this program), those same posters seem to disappear. If you’re (not you personally) going to whine when the team loses to NC State at the ACCs (and boy were there a lot of those folks), it would be nice if you showed up again two weeks later when the team outperformed NC State at the NCAAs to congratulate the team on a job well done. And if you’re(again, not you personally) going to complain when Mekhi loses to Starocci, it would be nice if you also celebrated with us when he avenged a loss against Karchla a couple weeks earlier. This phenomenon is not limited to the wrestling board by the way (though it’s the one I follow most closely). Whenever a VT sport has success (softball, women’s b-ball, etc) there are always a bunch of folks (some of the same who show up here) who seem compelled to show up and complain when that team loses. It’s fine to express frustration, question decisions, etc. - and that is part of what makes for good discussion- but it gets old hearing complaints from folks who never seem to have anything positive to say. If watching a program that consistently produces several all-Americans leaves someone with nothing but disappointment, there are other hobbies out there.
