I disagree with your (some) of your post. Dance didn't even place....a top 5 guy at worst went 2-2. I don't think Sal or Gus qualified, and Zavatsky under achieved and did not place and was definitely expected to. Of course Epperly lost in the first round and had an epic run on the backside. Haught and Walz wrestled to or close to seed, McFadden was a true freshman stud. This is not to denigrate any of those guys but that team was 4 points from 3rd. The trophy was huge but dare I say expected based on how good they were. Every year almost no team gets all the guys to peak but if VT did they may have even pushed for 2nd but certainly 3rd. 2016 had some big names and great guys and I agree 2023 has some youth that makes the team more exciting.
