Until their last bucket, NCSU went 7:50 without scoring a single point.
Our defense stepped up and they went cold at the same time. We were down 60 - 49 at the 7:50 mark. With the way State was shooting that’s crazy.

Switching off the zone messed them/NC St. up.

Crowd also turned it to 11, and team fed off that on D

Wenzel was key. She kept people in front of, fought through contact
and led the way in squeezing the driving lanes. We also got better at helping and recovering. There was a NCSU shot in the corner that we really contested hard on a close out. Kitley stepped up also.

Need more of that. Taylor Soule was that person last year and we haven't
replaced her well.

You mean Kayana Traylor

Traylor for Wenzel is a good comparison just based on size, but Soule's
contribution really hasn't been replaced and she was doing the same type of thing. No one else on this team is able to drive the basket, fight through contact, and draw fouls. Traylor was the little who did that and Soule was the big.

We don;'t have someone doing what Soule did last year
Micheaux isn't that. She can get rebounds. Soule played with anger, passion, drive, and fight. I mean at times she was a wrecking ball in a china shop. For exmaple, she could get the ball at the FT line and drive to the basket and get fouled. No one will do that. ** Edited by VAHokie89 at 1/7/2024, 4:03:01 PM

I would say both Soule and Traylor

aren't both playing pro ball now?
Their skills, size and energy were keys for us last year.
