It sounds like, in their next podcast, Liz will have an update on medical
school. I am not sure what her plan is but she may decide to retire from basketball after this season to start medical school. If so, my respect for her, which is already high, will go through the roof. As a long time Hokie, I am very proud of Hokies when they succeed in sports. But this would take Hokie pride to a different level. For her to possibly give up something she loves and is very good at, at such a young age, for something as noble as providing medical care for other people is an amazing, very mature decision. It would not surprise me at all based on how she has conducted herself since the minute she stepped on campus. To me, she has already established her legacy and is a Hokie legend. I can't even imagine how proud her parents must be. Regardless of her chosen path, the amazing thing is that this is only the beginning of what she will accomplish and Hokie nation will continue to be proud of her for years to come.

Yeah, I was thinking you kinda need to get on with medical school...
I wouldn't have been surprised if she had left last summer, even think Georgia's the reason she stayed. "Retired" sounds a little weird to me, she went to school and did school things and now would be moving on.

Most WNBA players make less than a medical resident
If that is indeed the plan, it probably has more to do with how unappealing the WNBA is rather than her drive to become a physician. She plays in front of packed arenas against the biggest names in the sport right now. WNBA would just be a grind without doing anything to elevate her status in the sport. Not to mention that her style of play doesn't jive with the physical, athletic post play of the WNBA.

I agree with your appreciation but didn't hear that hinted in the podcast.

Stay tuned I guess, that will be a "must-see" podcast.

It was to the effect she said she'd address it in the next podcast
Georgia mentioned it first.
