. . . high school. At least 50% of all D1 players likely pitched at some time. They were the best athletes on their rec ball or HS teams. So when the coach says "who has pitched before?" a lot of hands go up. Contrast this to the situation in the AUSL where teams seem to have an excess of pitchers on their rosters. Money (even a little) talks. I'm not sure the PSL is a viable operation.

They matchup Pickens against Canaday right out of the gate in that Blaze Volts game.
Pickens looked great in her debut a few days ago. Beforehand I read something that made it seem like she’d get the benefit of a wider strike zone in the pros as compared to college. I’ll be curious to see if that turns out to be the case or not.

Edit: Now they’ve backtracked and say that Canady is “expected” to appear during the game.
Very cool opening as well.
But what is the deal with all the empty seats? We wanted to go but the game was sold out.

Canady entered in the 4th for her first professional appearance. First batter hits a double, then the 2nd batter Reese Atwood bombs one over the center field wall to add to the Blaze lead … and Lemley is all smiles on camera congratulating Atwood at home plate and in the dugout.
