Per Pete: Find a way to play at home
The Baseline is regional. The key is learning how to win. He was not convinced Bree is 100% but she gave them what she had. The improvement - Got to play better. He emphasized - "How do we get to be home rather than be on the road. Obviously ability is mportant, we are one of the most talented teams, but what can be do to put us in position to be home." he is encouraged by the core returning. It was not a transitional year. We expect to be good everyone year no matter who is here.. It is about reloading and getting better

The Inn at VT had enough room for 4 teams - VT School should save all rooms
until the regional bids are out (if VT still decides to graduate same as Regionals). If we dont get a Bid - open the rooms up for whomever and VT gets what you they get for poor ass admin scheduling!

I get that - block it out for next year if the Regionals are same. Or just
hold them as reserved till they are clear from Regionals in 2027... We have a hotel on our campus...we cant host regionals cause there are not enough hotels - surely the high paid execs can figure that out for the future?

I think that it has been stated that graduation is the weekend before
regionals in 2027.

that would be great - the Inn should be wide open then!

I have a question for anyone here: If Pete had the same financial resources
that the upper level of the SEC has to spend, could he attract some 5* players to VT and be even more successful than he is currently? I ask this because I spent a couple of hours looking at past recruiting classes, and while Pete has done well, he is obviously not going to get the top ranked players we saw on LSU or FSU for that matter. Not trying to make any excuse because this team was definitely a top 15-20 team but how terrific could they be if he were able to bring in a 5* pitcher every other year, and a top 10 hitter, who may consider VT but feels like they need to go with the money. I will ask again, how would one go about starting an NIL STRICTLY for softball, with a hands off to any other sport? Just asking because it's obvious which sport will get the lion's share of the cash and with the resources of a top level SEC school host regionals and superregionals consistently. I take nothing from the players and coaches this year and past years. Under Pete, this is the 2nd most successful program at VT and with 2-3 top 10 additions, could be in Ok. City more years than not!! Real delights to watch and cheer on!! This was a terrific season where the steam just ran out at the end. And it looks like VT may have a star pitcher in the making to go along with Mazz and Bree!! Next year may look as good or better than this!!

I'm involved in one of these at another D1 school in Virginia. Not only is it softball-specific but position-specific. I bet most here can guess the position :)

A 1.5 million a year commitment for maybe 5 years to start will fulfill
All your NIL wishes. Until that is funded, ? teams like Tech, and even Florida State are on the outside looking in to the top ten. Both programs poked their nose in the money ( top ten) tent this year, but not for long. Unless a generational pitcher shows up on your front door and doesn’t care about the money….meanwhile instead you rank (top 25) with the great unwashed, and survive with outstanding recruiting and development, preparing, pretty much 2nd tier national players, to compete with the first $$$$ tier.

It’s my understanding you can provide funds to the Triumph Collective
and The Hokie Way and restrict/designate the funds to softball. And it appears you may be able to do that with donations to the Hokie Club’s “Invest To Win Fund” too, and it appears that can be used for NIL. Donations to this fund do not count toward any per-seat gift requirements or parking. I guess it does add to your priority points though.

Don't trust any contact from the athletic dept. except in the final stages
of determining the payment to players. Too many slippery hands can siphon off the cash before it gets to the players.

That’s true for any collective or athletic department.

Pete states . . . "we are one of the most talented teams" . . . agree 100%
