It’s great to see Layton get more innings lately
Would be nice to enter the postseason with a strong, 3-arm rotation. ** Edited by RVAHokie05 at 5/1/2026, 11:16:13 PM

They add off speed and more movement off season look out.
But already a very good lineup changeup from Bree. Brings different pitches and speed to look at.

That 'add' requires a lot of work. It can be done but remember . . .
. . . the NCAA does not allow work with team coaches from the end of the final game until Fall practice. There's 3 to 4 months where improvement is solely dependent on the player's work and the instruction she can privately obtain. ** Edited by MidloHokie at 5/2/2026, 8:55:28 AM

Um ok. I'm sure the SEC follows that rule.... LOL. Being good is always
about the individual work you put in. Talent only goes so far... ** Edited by UTPr0sim at 5/2/2026, 9:11:50 AM

Actually, I think most do. Most kids don't stay on campus for summer . . .
. . . school and the coaches are on the road recruiting. It's also something that compliance people on campuses do monitor. Most kids are given workout schedules for the summer, both S & C and skill-specific drills. However, virtually every D1 pitcher has a private instructor at home and that's where the potential for improvement mostly lies.

I wonder if there is a way to do an off-season training center
the way that D1 wrestling teams do. Separate entity with separate coaches.

I agree. She has a "live" arm. Lots to work with.
