IMO, softball is one of the few 'premier' athletic programs at Tech. But
what does Coach Pete need to do to advance the program to the next level (consistent top 10 or even top 5)?

Kaylee Hodges (Matoaca): 2024-25 Gatorade Player of the Year, with a 0.07 ERA and 244 strikeouts.
So many elite VA pitchers have left the state like Kathryn Sandercock, Valerie Cagle, Peyton St. George . . .
Of course VT had the best of all time in Angela but we didn't have the offense and development we do now under Coach Pete.

Getting Layton good work and she holding her own (outperformed Bree actually this weekend) should give him confidence to use her an inning or two here and there as needed. She could probably beat many 4 seeds if we’re tonight for example. Not saying we take it for granted but she can be utilized and get outs
