Deservedly, VT is in Softball America's Stock Down Report Today
No question the two losses to Georgia Tech hurt. One would have (probably) been acceptable, but two really hurts. The Hokies' RPI after Saturday was 20 and it hasn't been updated for Sunday's games. And of course, Georgia Tech is in the their Stock Up category.
Here are the SA comments:
"Stock Up: Georgia Tech
"The Yellow Jackets were Stock Down last week, but their at-large resume looks a lot better after this weekend. Georgia Tech taking the series against Virginia Tech changes a lot. The Yellow Jackets see their RPI rise to x after adding a pair of Quad One wins. Georgia Tech also has only four games, including its last series against Florida State, but being six games over .500 means the Yellow Jackets will be eligible for an at-large bid regardless of what happens, though taking a game from the Noles would still be nice.
"Stock Down: Virginia Tech
"On the flip side of that, the Hokies’ hopes of hosting a regional are quickly falling. The losses to Georgia Tech aren’t bad, but the Hokies’ RPI has dropped to x and adding two more Top 50 wins certainly would’ve helped. They have another chance against UNC; however, this series, like Pitt last season, might be why Virginia Tech has to go on the road in the postseason.

Regional assignments are structured to prevent teams from the same conference from facing each other in the initial regional round outside the 16 host sites.
