VT and UVa have stars from Appomattox and Rustburg. Yesterday the two high
schools battled to 1-0 pitcher's duel. Bingham (little sister of UVa's ace) pitched a no hitter but lost when the only base runner of the game scored (steals and sacrifices). Appomattox has two aces also that are coming up behind Carrico.

One to Liberty, other to Radford.
Both families grew up in Appomattox. Both dads were pitchers and played multiple sports. One mom was one of best female 3 sport athletes ever in Appomattox. Also an excellent pitcher.

championship team in the 80's. So, at least some of the credit might go to Coach Janet Rawes for the Appomattox girls.

don’t know why they always have so many good ones. My theory is their proximity to Liberty University and pitching coaching there. Maybe someone with knowledge can confirm or deny that possibility.

. . . 52 weeks/year. We pitched on the beach, in the snow at Wintergreen and in motel parking lots all over the east coast. Never travelled without the equipment.
