It really chaps my a$$ to see GA ahead of us in any polls. They
have 11 losses to our 6 AND we beat them twice at their stadium (by a lot both times). Hopefully, we win enough of our remaining games to host, but even if we don’t get to host, this team can go a long way in the post season. Love this team and this sport. Go Hokies!

We will host if we just win 8-9 more games. Given our remaining schedule
that is what should happen. Now the team just needs to make it happen and earn their way into hosting.

Agree. 9-2 in last 11 should do it
If we’re 8-3 we may need 1 or 2 more in Cville at ACCT

It seems like the days of "needing 1 or 2 more in the conference tourney"
are gone. Seeding pretty much solidified unless you make a deep run in the tournament or are on the verge of being left out and lay a bad egg. Win 8 more games and that puts us at 43-9. The teams we're competing with for Seeds 10-16 have mostly already lost 9 games and will certainly lose more. Sure one or two may go on winning streaks and not lose again. But plenty of them will lose several more games and we are already ahead of them. Georgia plays 3 each against Texas, Oklahoma and Florida. You don't think they're going to lose a bunch of those? A&M plays 3 to end the season vs Oklahoma. MSU wraps up their season vs LSU, A&M and Ole Miss. Oregon wraps us vs UCLA. They are all going to lose quite a few more. ** Edited by King of Hokies at 4/14/2026, 12:06:35 PM

Oh the SEC records won’t matter…IF we lose say one to LU
uNC & GT; that will drop our RPI AND our other metrics (DSR & KPI) closer to 16 and give them a reason to keep us out The need to win 1-2 would arise to add another top 50 and perhaps top 25 win Teams not in the SEC with SOS low like ours (mostly out of our control) have been hosed in the past (so remember Minnesota only having 4 Ls and not hosting due to weak SOS even though they bid for it) ** Edited by hokiepro at 4/14/2026, 12:26:43 PM

Polls are meaningless - just keep winning and improving. Post season is
what counts. Once that begins, the only poll is the playoff result.

They are 2 behind us in every poll but RPI where they’re 9 ahead.
I think they also need to pay more attention to away and neutral site records. Technically, we’re 36-6 with only 6 true home games, 5-1 (although 5 in Salem were virtual home games) We’re 16-4 on the road and 15-1 @ neutral site. By comparison UGA has played a total of 15 away and neutral site games and are 21-6 at home (with 2 of those home losses to us), 4.5 times as many home games as us. ** Edited by HoakieBS at 4/14/2026, 9:57:38 AM

That tells you all you need to know about RPI.

KPI and DSR do pay attention to game location, and we are clearly
benefiting from that. I wish people would stop fretting over RPI. It's not going to keep us out. Only losing will do that.

The good news is that D1Sofball has them behind us
One more reason that I prefer D1 Softball over Softball America. I feel like they follow the sport much closer. Because SB America publishes their poll on Monday, they get a little more visability.

SEC favoritism! They definitely should be behind us.
