Another terrible night. Good effort Hokies…Just not meant to be.

Honestly put this one on the coaches (sorry Chip). Awful in game decisions.
There were many curious decisions. Sending McMillan from 3rd, not walking Vega in the 5th or 7th, another foregone sacrifice bunt, (apparently) not telling Grein that she absolutely cannot walk anyone with bases empty when we were up 4-2, etc, etc.
Overall, it is very difficult to criticize or second guess Pete and Co. And hindsight is always 20/20 in losses. But, man, a few of those points above are like standard operating procedure and we just didn’t follow it.

is on base? I would think that any pitcher from JV through major college would know that you shouldn’t put players on base. Evidently based total pitches to strikes ratio she had some control issues..

And at least one of those may have been an execution error and not coaching

Part of the enjoyment of watching sports is critiquing the action, the
strategies employed, the officiating and pretty much everything else. At the end of the day we are all on the same team and want to win. Different opinions do not make us enemies so let's not make this divisive. Just because I don't agree with Pete all the time doesn't mean I hate him or don't think he's a good coach.

And I agree with you on that! I will always be a huge fan of Pete.
He will get more right, over time, than any of us. It’s why he’s in the dugout and we are on the couch. I get it.
If his decisions had worked out, we would have hailed him as a genius. When they don’t work, we question and criticize.
I like that he doesn’t always go by the book. Makes it more exciting. Sometimes you need to, though.
