Top female suburban athletes tend to do soccer, lacrosse & track in spring

Lacrosse has the best scholarship/participant ratio of any women's sports aside from golf and rowing, which a lot of parents with athletic girls have figured out. Also, lacrosse is seen by many suburban kids as being "cooler" than softball due to its novelty and the fact that it tends to get played by a more affluent crowd.
