Bre Warren is suing the NCAA for eligibility

I had heard this story at the parents' tailgate on Saturday, but now there's an online story from the Roanoke Times written by Damien Sordelett. Basically, Bre has only played softball for three seasons and logic would say she deserves a fourth, but when has the NCAA ever been logical? A couple of highlights from Damien's story: "Bre Warren, an outfielder on the Virginia Tech softball team, has gone to court against the NCAA as she seeks to play for the Hokies this season. "In late February after the softball season began, the NCAA denied an appeal made by Warren and Virginia Tech for an extension of eligibility waiver for the 2026 season. On Monday, Warren filed a motion for preliminary injunction against the NCAA in Montgomery County Circuit Court. "Virginia Tech, on Warren’s behalf, submitted a request for the extension of eligibility waiver on Oct. 30, 2025. The initial request was denied, and the subsequent appeal was denied on Feb. 26 after the Hokies had already played 13 games. "Warren's motion is based on her playing three seasons of college softball and this season being her final year of eligibility. "She played at Texas A&M as a freshman in 2021, received a medical redshirt for her sophomore season in 2022 and played as a second-year sophomore in 2023. She transferred to South Carolina and played as a third-year junior in 2024." The article also quotes passages from her motion including that "she was “subjected to severe harassment, ridicule, bullying and discrimination by the USC coaching staff, including on the basis of race.” Bre has been with the VT team all year and she always has a smile on her face. Of all the crazy ruling that have been made recently, it sounds like she deserves a break. Good luck, Bre
