When I posted my summary of the most schools with players entering the transfer portal, I said I would also recap the number of schools that had the most current commits from the portal. Remember that there are still over 700 players in the portal that haven't found homes, so this is just one moment in time. There are still many players with offers and players making visits. Coaches have their hands full at the moment trying to check out the numerous travel ball tournaments while also trying to host potential portal additions. Based on yesterday's listing from D1 Softball, South Carolina (7), Mississippi State (6), and North Carolina (6) have been the most active in signing players so far. The Gamecocks signed 8 transfers last season, so it looks like Ashley Chastain Woodard is certainly making that roster her own. Hokiehigh2000 posted yesterday that the SEC had 37 commits from the portal so far. That number is almost double the number of players that have committed to ACC schools (20). Eight ACC schools have not signed any players and four more have only signed two, including VT, but, as I said, there are still offers out there and players making visits and decisions.
