Stanford is a very, very good team. They are not easy to like, however.

Have encountered several players and fans at the hotel. None are friendly, and that was before last night's game. And that's ok, this place is new to them and may seem very foreign, but I always enjoy interacting (in a positive manner) with many of our ACC brethren, and I'm mostly talking about legacy ACC schools in the Carolinas, GT, etc., and even Notre Dame. I thought Stanford's coach was quite whiny. I know, many softball coaches are, but she seemed to have a problem with almost any call that didn't go her way. Hey, the HP ump last night was bad both ways. I thought sure she was going to get tossed on that 3-1 strike call near the end. I know Pete respects her a lot (or says so anyway, haha), so there's that. Then we had the Stanford "fan" who flipped VT off when the game ended. Pure class. I guess we will have to live with the fact that this won't be a fan base that we're going to become best buds with. And we won't be seeing them all that often, in any sport, just given how the rotations work in a 17/18 team conference.

They probably think they are too good for a small town in the south.

Extra motivation to just play ball and win**

But what does "not friendly" mean?
VAHokie89 03/29/25 10:25 AM ET
Well, to be fair, not friendly means "not friendly."

Having grown up a Stanford fan, this is extremely accurate.

I think I’m going to compliment them on having more fans at TSP than they

yes, but some paint "not friendly" as rude or unfriendly

Spot on Will! They weren’t mean at all, just not engaging. And that’s ok. **

VAHokie89 03/29/25 10:25 AM ET
They usually do that after the last game in series when they’re playing
