It will come out, one way or another, that AUBURN and AUBURN alone, almost certainly at Mickey’s behest, had this game called. There is no other explanation. It was known by anyone with a cell phone that the rain was about to end just before they called the game. Mickey and the Auburn crew certainly knew it. Let’s not blame the umpires. Assuming the home plate umpire was the crew chief, she was letting them play right on through the top of the 7th. It was Mickey who came out and begged for a delay, knowing full well that if it ultimately got called, it would be a tie. Yet, the Auburn folks are saying they expect to play Belmont at 11am tomorrow. Huh? We just move on from an unfinished game to a new one against a lesser opponent?! This is bush league stuff. Yeah, I know, it’s the SEC. Just another day, another heist. But all Mickey needs to do is tell his SID, AD, etc that the right thing to do is to finish the game. It isn’t that difficult. We know where the chess pieces go on the board. Do the right thing, Mickey. Don’t wait for karma to come back at an inopportune time, like the WCWS or SEC tourney.
