As with any professional league

Stars are developed in addition to those who might be household names. The original women's soccer leagues had a lot of stars on one team and it failed financially. Later, the next US league tried to distribute stars and still struggled. Many softball fans will go to games because they are softball fans many wont even know who Pickens is. Wnba is seeing viewership success and sone if it jay be due to clark and other stars, but it is due to an overall boom in women's sports. sone teams didn't have household names like the golden state valkyries in its expansion year. However, the valkyries had fantastic attendance….they also won. The nwsl has teams that have players that no one knows. The kc current has a roster that i bet few can name. But they won fast year and were popular. The world cup and Olympics success help generate interest. It is going to take more than a random stsr name. In theory, a small league should havre rosters full of star names, right? But it does not. It will need owners/league officials who promote it and generate excitement like the expansion los Angeles angels did. And a global event like summer olympics or world championship. And win. .

With WNBA, most of the increase in viewership is due to Clark.**
Atlee Hokie 06/21/26 01:42 PM ET
IMHO, the increase was happening prior to Clark. I guess we can look at it

Very negative for a Hokie board. Somethings should be kept to yourself.
