It's a weak sounding word that reflects a weak minuscule act. Not saying
the act cannot be well-played, strategic, effective nor successful. "Bunt" is in the same family of sounds of big manly things like hunt, grunt, stunt. The sound of the letter "U" is strong. The sound of "bint" better describes the simple act of holding a bat and letting the pitch hit the bat instead of using the bat to attack the pitch.
