Great question. Massey does use run differential in his ratings
D1 Softball, Softball America, the Coaches poll, and ESPN all combine ballots submitted by individual voters, so there is a strong likelihood that a run-rule game was noticed.
In listening to the Podcast for the DSR method that I like a few threads below, they cap the run differential at eight runs.
