It actually is pretty normal. 8 walks may not be normal, but 4-6 is normal

and they are not always about close calls that the ump doesn't make. They are often high and outside, low and away, flailing away form the batter. And you can often see her moving her arm after a pitch to try and get her motion correct. I also think the coaches need to call more pitches that require her to get it over the plate, even at the risk of hits...allow the defense to work. ** Edited by VAHokie89 at 3/15/2026, 12:36:35 PM

No excuse for swinging at one that low. Especially at a critical time!

You give Mazz the ball and tell her to go out and throw strikes.
Hokie_Forester 03/14/26 05:17 PM ET
And you call pitches that demand the ball be in the strike zone
VAHokie89 03/14/26 11:48 PM ET
Well, Mazz is not tryiing to not throw strikes. Simply put, she's not . .
MidloHokie 03/14/26 05:30 PM ET
True, but it does appear she attempts to over power every batter she faces.**

I think the pitching needs to help with their calls**
VAHokie89 03/14/26 11:49 PM ET
I disagree. She didnt get to where she is by not throwing strikes/close

There are no bad decisions, only bad results
TomTurkey 03/14/26 05:03 PM ET
What controversial decisions?….
hokietony 03/14/26 04:59 PM ET
Zactly. Nothing controversial about starting Mazz and Layton. It's . . .
MidloHokie 03/14/26 05:25 PM ET
I doubt Layton starts many top tier ACC games
TheAmishHokie 03/14/26 05:14 PM ET
Except Bree pitches in relief only, so now who do you start?**
vatechcowpatty 03/15/26 02:15 AM ET
