TheFacts, I'll go over this one more time, just for you. I'm typing slowly, so hopefully I'll only have to do this one more time. First, you're conflating what I posted to self-generate indignation. The analogy I've always drawn is to the United Way. Almost all govt employees are familiar with that, as are many corporate entities. UW collects money in support of hundreds, if not thousands, of charities and social programs. Many years ago, many govt employees looked at the list of charities, and there was a fracturing in donations, because donors didn't like all the orgs listed. It could be the Red Cross, Salvation Army, NRA, etc. So, donors told UW, I'm not going to give to you, because i don't want to give any money to X organization. The UW responded by offering "targeted donations" (I don't know if that's what they call it now, because I retired 22 years ago). But, what actually happened was, the "targeted donation" went into the same big pot. That "targeted donation" was not in addition to what the UW planned to give, it was just part of the monies the UW had planned to give all along." The UW played a semantic word game to run a grift. So, while with the govt, I refused to contribute to UW, and gave my charitable donations to the specific charities I wanted to support, usually local to where I was at the time. The Hokie Club does the same thing when you give a donation without pre-described targets. When I donate to softball, I know the money is going to softball, and that those funds are in addition to what VT has budgeted to softball. How? Because Pete knows his budget, @VTChip keeps a total of donations given to him, which he then takes to softball, who then takes it to the Hokie Club. The over $260,000 VTChip has raised in the last few years was in addition to what VT budgeted. If you've followed Chip' s efforts over the last few years, pictures have been posted on TSL showing what the SB players got because of Chip's efforts. The pictures have shown the appreciation of SB players for what Chip and his supporters have done. And, as a side note, Chip started his endeavors a few years ago when he found out how little the VT athletic department had supported the program. They were using 5-year old socks. And the person in the AthDept responsible for softball,...Chris Helms. He's still oversees softball. Now, to answer your last questions, here's where the money is going: salaries, $500,000/year for leasing the new seats in Lane, outsourcing, buyouts of contracts, new seats in Cassell, paying off debt from loans, studios for the ACCN, $10MM for baseball, etc. And, before you ask, I have the contracts, in many cases. to show you if you're so inclined.
