I am not sure there is as.......

much an optimal mph difference as the goal of maintaining arm speed/motion and pitch arc so as not to tip the batter off and for the speed to still be fast enough to throw off the batter"s timing without allowing time to readjust. I am guessing 20+ mph difference pushes those bounds, particularly with film and on the other end 8 -10 is the minimum to affect timing.

IMO 20 is too much. 10-12 mph is what my daughter’s pitching coach wants.
