Except it isn't -- the pairings appear to be largely regional.
After KY lost in the SEC tournament, it was pretty much given they would be a 2 in whatever region they were assigned to. And it was already clear that we would be a 1, so it wouldn't take a genius to figure out that they'd be paired with the team from the neighboring state.
If it was like the NCAA basketball tournament, our region would include the #30, #35, and the #62 teams. And KY is clearly no #30 -- Massey's ratings this morning had them as #16 (and us as #7).
