. . . be sure about a pitcher until they succeed in real game situations. I've seen lots of hall-of-fame bullpen pitchers. That's especially true of non-power ones. I saw Carrico pitch in the Fall. I thought "hmmmm, she looks pretty good and very different from the rest of the staff". That biggest difference is that she has a much better idea where the ball is going when it leaves her hand than anyone else on the staff. She is far better at 'just missing' than Mazz, for example, who still throws too many waste pitches . . . those too far out of the zone to tempt batters or the umpire.
