My guess is players/parents/coaches know. Word may be leaking out.

The hosting teams (or at least the last few who are on the bubble) have to know asap in order to make preparations. So it’s very likely that some folks at VT already know. And this doesn’t sound good. If we’re not a host, the committee is going to talk about finishing the season rather poorly and not great record vs. Top 10, Top 25, Top 50. Cal and UVA really let us down in terms of not being quite as good as we thought so those 4 wins would’ve meant more to us. That said, being the first team left out of the women’s NCAA tourney and the first team left out of hosting for softball, within a 2 month period, is a bitter pill to swallow and does make you wonder why we can’t have nice things once in a while. The next good break VT athletics gets, will be the first one (I know, I know, make your own luck).
