One thing the screenshot doesn't capture is the catcher's framing...

If it makes you feel better, if I were to give the ump the benefit of the doubt, I would say the catcher lunged a bit instead of immediately pulling it in... and I think that lead to the decision. Once he called that a ball, there were similar pitches in the 7th that the UK pitcher made that he started calling balls, as I think he knew he may have erred. ** Edited by jesuisvtguy at 3/12/2025, 7:51:12 PM
