@2hhoop3 explains it much better than I, but basically, how can you

keep begging for more donations when you're not maximizing your revenue generation in every way possible, such as charging admission when possible. As I've opined before, Whit et al are just being stubborn now, and looking very petty. SB is just one sport, but as others have mentioned here, what about wrestling, soccer, volleyball, etc.? And, simultaneously, Whit et al thwarts @VTChip 's fundraising efforts for softball. That's why I call them petty.

Season tickets!! Season tickets!! Makes me so mad I could just explode!!!!!
ancient alien 2018 12/02/24 09:18 PM ET
VT doesn't seem to understand the need to diversify its athletic revenues
UpperQuad 12/04/24 01:13 AM ET
Also don't want to hear any other way to sell tickets other than the way
laphroaig 12/04/24 12:49 PM ET
What's this revenue diversification thing you're talking about.? Why do
saret 12/04/24 09:45 AM ET
@2hhoop3 explains it much better than I, but basically, how can you
saret 12/03/24 08:30 AM ET
I call them something else but I don't want to get banned!!**
ancient alien 2018 12/03/24 05:37 PM ET
That's why I chose the words I did.**
saret 12/03/24 05:42 PM ET
VT Wrestling and Soccer could also sell tickets.**
UpperQuad 12/02/24 10:45 PM ET
From what I understand, wrestling already does when at Moss Art Center and
laphroaig 12/03/24 05:00 AM ET
I can’t argue against using Hokie Club Priority
Hokie4Life_89 12/03/24 04:30 PM ET
The biggest donor would have flown into Blackaburg to see
rberry7676 12/04/24 11:50 PM ET
Legendary Donors
Hokie4Life_89 12/05/24 12:06 PM ET
The 3 most influential Hokies I know personally
rberry7676 12/05/24 01:41 PM ET
It's my understanding that Whit doesn't control ticket sales ...
Atlee Hokie 12/04/24 10:03 AM ET
Well, the mechanics of ticketing is outsourced. Policy decisions
saret 12/04/24 11:41 AM ET
I think that’s a little misleading
Hokie4Life_89 12/04/24 11:16 AM ET
You are correct. I should have read your post prior to responding to
saret 12/04/24 11:42 AM ET
No worries
Hokie4Life_89 12/04/24 02:10 PM ET
Operation of it yes, but Athletic Dept makes the final call.**
TheFacts 12/04/24 10:36 AM ET
I understand your argument re: HC priority points, and I'd agree,
saret 12/03/24 05:53 PM ET
Interesting. If wrestling doesn’t consider priority points…
Hokie4Life_89 12/04/24 11:29 AM ET
It's my understanding wrestling uses a "first come, first seated" for those
saret 12/04/24 11:39 AM ET
Not @VTChip , but you are correct on both points.**
saret 12/03/24 08:22 AM ET
That's because the Arts Center charges for the use of their venue.**
TheFacts 12/03/24 07:48 AM ET
And they should. Who owns the rights to our sports venues?**
laphroaig 12/03/24 09:39 AM ET
I ASS U ME the AthDept does.**
saret 12/03/24 09:41 AM ET
The university does.
RJHokie 12/03/24 09:52 AM ET
Ticketing for that event is done by the Arts Center not Athletic Dept.**
TheFacts 12/03/24 10:29 AM ET
We know that.
RJHokie 12/03/24 11:03 AM ET
Then we should charge something to enter them for a game.**
laphroaig 12/03/24 09:58 AM ET
Yeah, “We (VT)” should do a lot of things.
RJHokie 12/03/24 10:09 AM ET
And I hope to see a unicorn some day.**
Atlee Hokie 12/03/24 12:25 PM ET
Really? I always hoped to see Ann-Margret naked! No joke!**
laphroaig 12/03/24 12:38 PM ET
That interview should provide some good laughs, at least.**
NokieHokie 12/03/24 11:33 AM ET
Yeah.
RJHokie 12/03/24 11:38 AM ET
My assumption is VT is always unprepared. So anything better will be a plus**
NokieHokie 12/03/24 11:40 AM ET
I believe a fair number of folks agree with you. **
RJHokie 12/03/24 11:48 AM ET
From your lips to God's ears.**
saret 12/03/24 11:30 AM ET
Love the idea
VTChip 11/28/24 08:34 AM ET
Many of the big time programs have them - here's Auburn**
VTChip 11/28/24 01:09 PM ET
VT Wrestling has the SERTC, which has bee a boost for VT's team
UpperQuad 11/28/24 10:40 AM ET
SERTC (Coach Robie, Tucker, staff, and volunteers) all do a great job.
VTDante 12/04/24 01:16 PM ET
I have no need of Hokie Club points**
TomTurkey 11/29/24 08:22 PM ET
As @VTChip and I have discussed before, HC points are really
saret 12/03/24 08:34 AM ET
Not a big deal.
RJHokie 11/28/24 09:35 AM ET
There is now an "Extra Bases" group for large softball-specific donors.
nvpbrown 11/28/24 07:02 PM ET
I think there are several of these groups for the "other" SPorts. Heard it
UTPr0sim 11/29/24 02:50 PM ET
I would think a group at a lower entry point would be OK.
UTPr0sim 11/29/24 02:46 PM ET
A club of $50K donors for softball?
Hokie4Life_89 11/30/24 08:35 AM ET
Extra Bases is definitely running -- we've attended several events.
nvpbrown 11/30/24 04:54 PM ET
$10k feels right, maybe $5k
Hokie4Life_89 11/30/24 06:27 PM ET
Pretty reliable - Hokie Club staff.**
UTPr0sim 11/30/24 09:09 AM ET
Please do. **
RJHokie 11/28/24 07:04 PM ET
I don’t know. That’s that’s a Hokie Club project, I’m not involved.**
VTChip 11/28/24 11:21 AM ET
Apparently the Hokie Club isn’t involved either
RJHokie 11/28/24 11:24 AM ET
MUTE best describes their communication "skills" in a lot of areas.**
ancient alien 2018 12/02/24 09:21 PM ET
Geesh, I hate you old guys who remember stuff like that.
saret 11/28/24 10:08 AM ET
Sorry man too much math for me. :-). I volunteer @RJHokie !!**
laphroaig 11/28/24 08:44 AM ET
Suggestion. Don't first ask for permission.**
saret 11/28/24 08:38 AM ET
Oh, I agree 100%**
VTChip 11/28/24 08:48 AM ET
Great idea. A little pricey. Suggest "reserve seating" benefit be
laphroaig 11/28/24 06:05 AM ET
Pricey is what it takes
Hokie4Life_89 11/28/24 03:54 PM ET
Good points!**
