Here is a post I wrote in the fall about them
Addie Wilhoit, a middle infielder from Tennessee High in Bristol committed on September 11. Extra Innings called her “one of the most well-rounded athletes in the Southeast...“Wilhoit’s athleticism, focus, and game sense make her a defensive asset…while her disciplined, gap-to-gap hitting approach continues to produce results against elite competition. With her multi-sport background and competitive mindset, she’s built for long-term success and projects as a major contributor at the next level.”
Chloe Wools, an outfielder from Tuscarora High School, committed on 9/21. "Chloe, , was named the 2025 Class 4 Player of the Year by the Virginia High School League. She is ranked as the #4 outfielder in the Class of 2027 (tied for #10 overall) by Extra Innings Softball who describes her as "a powerful athletic outfielder who is considered one of the best lefty power hitters in her age group. During her Summer season last year, she put up monster stats by hitting .573, with a .608 on base percentage with 94 total hits including 16 doubles, 11 triples and seven home runs while scoring 83 times, stealing 26 bases and only striking out five times in 164 at-bats."
Mackenzie “MJ” Melvin, a middle infielder from Bishop O’Connell High School in Arlington, VA, committed to the Hokies on 10/18. MJ was named the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Co-Player of the year as a sophomore after hitting .596 as a leadoff batter for the Knights with an on-base percentage of .712.Those numbers helped Bishop O’Connell to an undefeated season and their 13th consecutive state title. MJ was ranked #26 in Line Drive’s Top 100 rankings in July, 2024. Her travel ball coach described MJ as “versatile” and as “a rockstar…Her combination of speed and power is truly special and MJ is a high character kid who is humble and a great teammate. MJ is a joy to coach and watch compete! Her growth this past year has been remarkable.”
Lexi Lind, an outfielder from Spotswood High School, is a three-sport star who plays volleyball, track & field and softball, but seems to have found her calling on the diamond. She was named to the 2025 Virginia High School League Class 3 All-State team as a sophomore. Her high school coach commented that “Lexi Lind makes a softball field look small. Whether she’s running, throwing, or hitting a softball, she looks like she’s playing on a little league field.”
Lexi was recently named to Extra Innings’ first team All Northeast Region team as an outfielder and was ranked No. 85 nationally in their Extra Elite 100 in 2024. She is mentioned in numerous articles on that website, most of them noting her game-changing speed. A sample of the comments:
• “Lind’s dynamic skills make her a formidable leadoff hitter”
• “Her combination of gap-to-gap power and base-stealing speed makes her a constant challenge for opposing defenses.”
• “She consistently impacts games with her ability to get on base and wreak havoc with her speed”
• "Her long strides allow her to cover ground efficiently in the outfield, turning would-be hits into routine outs."
Jacie Kassanavoid, an outfielder from Lathrop High School in Missouri, is a multi-sport athlete who plays basketball and volleyball in addition to softball. She plays outfield for the Lanthrop Lady Mules and last season set school records for home runs (12), runs batted in (42) and runs scored (48).
Not surprisingly, she was named All-Conference, All-District, All-Region, and All-State.
Jacie is a 4.0 student and was recently inducted as an officer to the Future Business Leaders of America. She plays travel ball for Select Fastpitch.
