It is ok to be "run of the mill" in certain spots

This is not a vote for mediocrity. There is no gurantee that elimating cross country, golf, volleyball, soccer, etc will produce better football, basketball, etc. Coaching can produce better football. soccer is 2 years away from playing in the NCAA semi-finals cross country has been good or had good players. Or at least track and field has in general. lax is capable of having good seasons. They don't have to win the ACC to be worth it. That is the larger point. Teams don't have to win the ACC or a championship to bring value to the university. And for every average team, there is a Queen Harrison, a baseball pitcher or batter that makes the pros, etc... The mission of the athletic component of the university remains the same even if part of the equation is mercenary/business-like.
