then implies everyone hates it. If they just cut and pasted that format to the FBS, everyone would love it. It would be bedlam. Every conference champion gets in, and plenty of at-large spots to shut the entitled babies from the SEC and Big 10 up. Nobody is shut out.
Non-CFP bowls have become entirely meaningless. Nobody watches them, and players don't want to play in them. Conference championship games have become largely meaningless now as well - just get rid of them and play more CFP games. I don't care what any pencil neck dweeb hawking articles for SI says - a 24 team CFP where every conference champ got in would do enormous numbers, and we could finally stop saying "Mythical National Championship," because it would be a true championship format. They push the exact same line of BS about the NCAA basketball tournament, and yet every time they've added games to that, people love it, and it does numbers.

It was the B10 that has been pushing for the auto-bid idea from the begginjng. They really want auto-bids for the wild card games (and the revenue that comes with them).

not getting the CFP so they can bid on these extra games. Plus, I still see Petitti angling for cross over regular season games with the SEC. These non-conference games are going to be boring if there is no at-large component factored in to the CFP.
Tony "Participation" Petitti was working for the MLB when they expanded to 3 wildcard games. MLB used to be one team gets in for each league, then they made it two when they went to divisions. Then they added a wildcard. Then, they added 2 more wildcards. So not surprising that Participation Tony wants more playoff teams, diluting the regular season.

Wait until 8 G5 schools play two weekends and end up with two teams to fill out the 16 spots.
I for one, would like to see the G scools have a chance to play 8nto the playoffs. Let them have the attention, their stadiums and campuses filled, and give two of the 16 spots to G schools. Maybe even let those 3 and 4 loss power schools participate.
A playoff for the plyoff is a whole lot better than some Boca Raton Bowl.

20 teams. Some people might even say it should expand its field because there are a lot of exciting games for fans to watch in late November and the month of December. At least they are more exciting than a lot of the bowl games.
