with the B1G and The Alliance. The B1G hood winked both (surprise, surprise) into voting against something that was actually in their best interests to vote for. I suspect that they recently indicated that they would now vote in favor of what they just voted against. I think the BIGGER question is why the B1G and SEC want a (12) team playoff. I could make a case for them wanting to stick with (4) or even smaller. With (4), they could have their own conference playoff of 4-6 teams AND keep all of the $ to themselves. Why share $ if you are in their shoes?

Hopefully, after a few years, the B10 realizes that there needs to be a limit on how many teams can get in per conference, like 3 or perhaps 4. There have been years when the SEC would have gotten 5 teams in, e.g. 2018. The b10 would have been annoyed that year because #12 Penn St would have been pushed out by #16 WVU! For the PAC I would add that it stabilizes them. They would probably have lost a few teams to the B12 without this. But with this arrangement, the PAC teams might think they are better off staying. I think there is something in the 12 team version, about maintaining traditional bowl teams, so the PAC and B10 might end up in the Rose together a lot (away from the SEC!). I don't like that arrangement, but it also helped sell it to the PAC (and Big 10). PAC probably views that as something they want to keep. (edit: I think this might be wrong.
