Yormark Hints Big 12 Will Decide on TV Deal in "the next week or two".
The Big 12's Men’s Basketball Tipoff was wrapping up on Wednesday afternoon when a potential bombshell report from Ari Temkin, host of Big 12 Now on SiriusXM Radio. According to Temkin, Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark hinted that the league could have an announcement concerning a new television agreement soon. Yormark said that a decision will come from the Big 12 “in the next couple of weeks.” And more in the article. Two weeks is a lot less than the 16 months he estimated it would take in the article I posted just yesterday! Gotta wonder what the terms and conditions will be and how much money $$$$$ Big 12 schools will get per year. On the other hand, this might be just a decision to stick with ESPN &/or Fox Sports and not approach other potential carriers including Amazon and no actual announcement of deal specifics at all. Is that all this is? We apparently will know quite soon! ** Edited by LoveSports at 10/19/2022, 4:41:49 PM ** Edited by LoveSports at 10/19/2022, 6:24:46 PM

Wow it happening that fast would tell us a lot about the PAC, & possibly
some implications for the B1G and ACC. I think most thought it would happen before 16 months, but few if any thought it would happen this fast. This has the potential to be really big news!!!

Hey Stech!😁😁 Did you read the last part of my post?
It read: "On the other hand, this might be just a decision to stick with ESPN &/or Fox Sports and not approach other potential carriers including Amazon and no actual announcement of deal specifics at all. Is that all this is? We apparently will know quite soon!" In other words, it still might be 16 months (or less) until we get actual specifics because that is still being negotiated. Is Yormark simply saying they will decide & publicly announce whether or not the Big 12 will eliminate CBS, NBC, Amazon & Apple from negotiations? Or is this the actual announcement of a finalized deal? Either way, we'll see which interpretation is correct pretty darn soon!

Will be interesting to see if the B12 can get the results on the field
If TCU and Ok State both win this week, then they will have two top 10 teams (and they would knock Texas down to 5-3). That's a strong assist to their bargaining position of still having quality teams. And we know that WVU has pulled some good tv ratings in the Pitt game (not sure how good our game with them did). My guess is that the backdoor discussions with PAC teams is going well for Yormark and he is using that to help with the tv negotiations. If they get a new deal early then it would not surprise me to see the B12 further expand shortly afterwards.
