I love the good old days and I would also love a pioneering future.

But what we have now is neither. It's a middling, dystopian purgatory of sorts that screws over long-standing traditions, athletic programs and conferences in perpetuity. Ya see, no one really has the stones to make the college football system into something futuristic and competitive. They just want the short term cash-grab without regard to the future of the sport. It's about shutting people out (see: Oregon State). There are also people in power in the schools, the conferences and the media who want to preserve their power and importance. Sure, I will still attend VT games and enjoy them. But I'm not gonna whistle past the grave in the interim.

A popular misconception is that all change is good. It's clearly not true.
