I think they should stay home.

Three of these programs will have a hard time staying afloat on reduced media payout. Joining The ACC would at least put them in position to collect CPF money when the time comes. But cross-country travel will be torture on their budget. Stanford has no concerns about budget but they have a different issue. The Cardinal are not able to get help from the portal the way other schools do. Their admissions office is a stern gatekeeper. I am not convinced that ACC membership is a positive move for these schools or for the conference. The AAC is courting them. That is also a national footprint enterprise. These four PAC orphans would likely be used exclusively in the late-night window on ESPN+. Rumor is that ESPN would bump the AAC payout. Moving to The MWC would be the least disruptive in the long run. They would be used in the late-night window by FS1 but, at least, here they would share that duty with a sixteen-team rotation, so maybe twice per season. And the football would often be on linear (FS1). Fox has (reportedly) also agreed to bump the payout. Another advantage of The MWC is that there are only two years remaining on the media contract, if opportunities arise for them to improve their lot. The AAC and ACC deals end in 2034 and 2036 respectively. The biggest pill to swallow may be the decision to cling to P4 and struggle status or accept a future (perhaps temporarily) in a G5 world.

On3: As their cruel summer continues, where do Pac-12 schools turn next?

Tell ND the ACC will add Stanford and Cal if they join too.

LOL Swarbrick you won't add 1 more game to help them!! Look in the mirror!!
Stech 08/11/23 10:18 AM ET
Maybe Swarbrick should look at the University of Chicago which is a
RJHokie 08/11/23 12:25 PM ET
I agree the whole Swarbrick fiasco was very tone deaf and hypocritical. But

Are you talking about the negotiations between Jack Swarbrick,
WBGV 08/11/23 05:00 PM ET
At this point, every statement being made is posturing for something
Vienna_Hokie 08/11/23 11:08 AM ET
Yep, I have negotiated both sports & business agreements, so much posturing
Stech 08/11/23 11:24 AM ET
You nailed it on the last line why IMHO they won't add a 6th game, but
Stech 08/11/23 10:43 AM ET
I agree. Thankfully the ACC teams have finally woken up! Yeah!!!**

They have a home. They should keep it going
HokieAl 08/11/23 09:47 AM ET
Maybe if the Pac-4 do as you say, why not invite a few FCS schools looking
Maroon Baboon 08/11/23 12:26 PM ET
By NCAA rules, they would need to add either 3 or 4 teams by 2024.
Atlee Hokie 08/11/23 12:24 PM ET
I think it's six teams. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Maroon Baboon 08/11/23 12:35 PM ET
I know it used to be six teams, and probably still is.**

I would totally watch Oregon State at Montana (bucket list stadium)**

While you in that neck of the woods, pick up the Kibbie Dome. **

If they were keeping a spot open for Stanford and Cal, why not take them
wwhokie1 08/11/23 09:57 AM ET
Bingo. Keeping schools on the back burner hurts the back burner school.
Maroon Baboon 08/11/23 12:10 PM ET
Precisely, why diminish their value if you have plans to add them?
obguthr 08/11/23 10:14 AM ET
Sometimes the conference needs to take a desirable team when the team is

1) OSU-nw & WSU should just apply to MWC and get it over with,

There should be zero concessions made to FSU. Even if the ACC someshow
