My thoughts were that at the time the ACC liked the idea of 20 years, at

least most of the schools did. It wasn't just something that ESPN wanted. With fears of schools leaving because we didn't have a network, having a 20 year GOR and finally a network brought stability that everyone was seeking. The finances didn't look so out of whack back then and everyone thought now that we have a network we will start to move to fairly equal footing with the SEC and Big 10. With the new network we had solved our money shortfall, and with the GOR we solidified the conference makeup. All was right with the football world, at least until we saw the real numbers we were getting and compared them to the increasing figures of other conferences. So my rememberance is that 20 years of GOR actually brought peace and tranquility to the conferance and fans because we no longer needed to worry about any teams leaving. ** Edited by wwhokie1 at 5/20/2023, 12:30:47 AM

Question about the GOR.

The ACC has clung to their ACC Basketball past for way too long. Football

Negotiate it how, with ESPN holding the cards?

The critical element (that isn't public) is the language of the TV contract

apologize, I see CMU and Tarheelblue have most of it covered.

It is also possible the the B10 is over paid, as the networks need to make

Because the ACC was over eager and overconfident

There was no choice. If the ACC was going to survive it needed a network

Length of deal not necessarily the problem

The current ACC contract has 3 "look-ins". The first was apparently in 2021

Swofford had no negotiating power imo.

The ACC was in a position of weakness and it was a desperation move.
