I always thought with the ACC retaining the rights...
They would still be the ones getting paid for them. Meaning the ACC wouldn't pay the exiting school its share, keeping it instead. Not the school getting paid its new conference's media revenue then turning around and having to pay the ACC. I think it's meant as a deterrent to other conferences knowing you won't get that school's media market until the grant of rights is up.
